Federal Government Set To Shut down Polytechnics Till After Elections

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Federal Government has directed polytechnics across the country to suspend all academic activity from February 22nd to March 14th. This directive was disclosed by Adamu Adam, minister of Education.

Adamu Adamu  the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Mr. Idris Bugaje to disseminate the information to all provosts and rectors of Polytechnics across the country.

According to the Minister, the new directive would help to curtail insecurity during the election and protect the lives of students, staff, and properties during the election and also give students and lecturers the opportunity to exercise their franchise.

Academic activities would be made pending from Wednesday, 22nd February to Tuesday 14th March 2023.
After consultation with relevant agencies, security operatives are directed to ensure that Polytechnics adhere to the new directive.
