SENATE SUMMONS MINISTER OF FINANCE OVER 147 BILLION NAIRA PROJECT

In order to foster transparency and accountability in the economic sector of the country, Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning has been summoned by Senate for a clear explanation of over N147 billion for the capital project of the Ministry of Power.

Senator Gabriel Suswam, the chairman of the committee complains that Zainab Ahmed could not give a clear explanation on how the funds meant for multilateral projects in the power sector was expended.
The Senator says the Capital budget of the Ministry of Power for 2023 is N44 billion while N147 billion is meant for bilateral and multilateral projects, therefore inviting the Minister of Finance to come for an explanation on how money has been expended in the budget every year without any specifying purpose.
