37 Persons Reported Dead As Two Buses Involved In A Ghastly Accident

No fewer than 37 persons were reported dead in a ghastly motor accident that happened on Tuesday at Maiduguri-Damaturu road.
Mr Utten Boyi, the Borno Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident that the accident happened at Jakana village on Tuesday and involved two buses, one transiting from Maiduguri to Yobe and the other from Abuja to Maiduguri caught fire due to the collision.

According to the FRSC commander, the corpses were burnt beyond recognition, and the personnels of NEMA, Fire Service, Police in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps were mobilised to evacuate the corpses.

The FRSC Commander added that, the police has received court order to conduct a mass burial for the deceased. However, drivers are advised to drive safely and always check that their vehicles are in good motorable condition, and maintain all safety precautions in this yuletide period and beyond.
