Court has Charged one Mr. Edward Joseph Over N18.3 Million Visa Fraud.

A 49-year-old man, Joseph Edward has been prosecuted for allegedly defrauding 30 persons the sum of N18.3 through visa scam.
The suspect was arraigned for two-count charge of both stealing and fraud by the Police at Ejigbo Magistrates’ court in Lagos.

ASP Benedict who is the prosecutor told the court, that Joseph Edward, the defendant committed the offences charged against him on the 10th of August, 2021 and in November 2022, in Lagos State, at no. 10/11 Igando, Abbey plaza precisely.

According to Benedict, the defendant collected N18.3 million from 30 different persons, 3.7 million from Parkers Zander, N1.9 million from Chigozie Ojiaku, N2.5 million from George Will, N660,000 from Abiodun Oluwasegun among others, and falsely promised to obtain visas for them to Dubai and Spain, and also to purchase flight ticket for all of them, which the defendant failed to keep all the promises.

Edward Joseph who converted the money for his personal use, has contravened the 2015 criminal Law of Lagos State, sections 287 and 314. Meanwhile, the defendant who denied the charges was granted bail to the tune of  N2 million by the magistrate, miss K. A. Ariyo alongside two of his sureties at the same sum. However, the magistrate adjourned the case to 13th of December, 2022.
