Lagos Kicks Off 16 Days Activism To Eradicate Violence Against Girls And Women.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has kicked off  16 days of action to free the State from the threat of both sexual and gender -based violence perpetuating in the State.

Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the executive secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) made this known in a statement on Friday, that the government has begun 16 days activism in order to improve and handygripes problems of sexual and gender-based violence faced by individuals and communities at large.

According to the secretary, the specified activities for the 16 days activism includes house -to house engagement, sensitizing 3,000 children on the prevention of child abuse, market fiestas and youth engagement, as well as advocacy walk in epe.

The activism organized by the agency is an avenue to display the various intervention measures set by the leadership of the governor Sanwo-Olu, which includes, rescue and counselling services, provision of shelter for victims of domestic and sexual abuse , launch of domestic and sexual violence trust finds, the provision of sexual intervention Trust Fund for victims and free medical attention at specified government facilities.

Vivour-Adeniyi emphasized that, the activism is a powerful way to show the public about the government’s zero tolerance on any form of sexual and gender-based violence. She added that victims of such should not hesitate to report to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency via 08000 333 333.

The 16 days activism is an International Campaign which kicked off on 25th November which is the International Day for eradicating violence against women, aimed at annihilating violence against women and girls and will end by 10th of December, the Human Rights Day.
