FG Officially Declares Dates For Holiday To Mark Christmas and New Year Celebrations.

Following the Christmas and New Year Celebrations, the Federal Government has officially announced 26 and 27 December 2022 as public holidays for both Christmas and Boxing Day and declared Monday, January 2nd as a public holiday for the new year’s celebration.

The announcement was made by Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior through a statement by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

In the statement, Aregbesola encouraged all Christians and Nigerians to be devoted and make good use of the yuletide period and entrust the country into the hands of God, beseech God to eradicate insecurity, injustice, violence, etc perpetuating in the country.

Speaking about the good qualities of Jesus Christ and the model he left for Christians to follow, the Minister urged all Christians to display humility, peace, patience, compassion, and righteousness at all times, as it will be a perfect way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

According to the Minister, Nigerians should show a spirit of patriotism by reporting to relevant authorities and Security Agencies any suspected criminal activity either through the IOS or the N-Alert Application available on Android phones.

Reminding the citizens to be security conscious, the Minister assured Nigerians that the government had put effective measures to curb insecurity in the country and ensure that the lives and properties of the citizens are safe and secured
Rauf also added that 2023 would be a good year for all Nigerians.
